Halton Catholic board reaches local deal with secondary teachers

The Halton Catholic District School Board has reached a local contract agreement with its high school teachers.
The board of trustees ratified a Memorandum of Settlement with the Halton chapter of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) secondary unit.
The agreement is effective Sept. 1, 2014-Aug. 31, 2017.
Members of the Halton OECTA secondary teachers held their ratification meeting on Feb. 2 and voted overwhelmingly in support of the memorandum.
There are currently 687 permanent, full-time and 64 occasional secondary teachers employed with the Halton Catholic District School Board.
On Aug. 25, 2015, the ministry of education, Catholic school boards and OECTA reached a tentative agreement on central terms for elementary and secondary teachers in Catholic schools.
